Grassroots sport is set to return and we can’t wait to get back out into the community!

Prior to the pandemic, our Club Engagement team was visiting clubs in the GiveToLocal community on a weekly basis.

And with a return to grassroots sport finally in sight, that dedicated team is determined to deliver even more support to the communities that need it most.

“Over the last 12 months it’s been a traumatic time for a lot of clubs,” said Club Engagement Manager Keith Watson.

“I’ve witnessed clubs struggling to keep members engaged and struggling to make ends meet financially.

“That’s why I’m looking forward to getting back out there and helping to pick these clubs back up again.

“At GiveToLocal we’re all about working with these clubs and doing everything we can to improve their financial situation, get kids back into sport and make a real difference.”

Keith also coaches his local girls’ football team and is counting the days until his players can get back onto the pitch.

“Our season is going to carry on and we’re getting to finish it so that’s a nice thing to look forward to,” he said.

“There’s the excitement of actually getting the girls back together and having the squad ready again.

“We’ve been really proactive in terms of giving them things to do online, video tasks and football fitness challenges. But it’s not the same.

“I’m really looking forward to being back out there on the pitch and getting back to coaching.”
