Corporate Social Events At GiveToLocal

Following the success of our first Corporate 5s five-a-side competition, GiveToLocal is already planning for the post-coronavirus era.

We’re keen to stage more events focused on bringing together like-minded businesses, raising a greater awareness around community sport and some much needed funds through regional events.

And as lockdown restrictions continue to be lifted, GiveTolocal is positioning itself to repeat the success of our inaugural Corporate 5s after the first regional event raised £1500 to benefit local community sports clubs.

Now the Corporate Relationship Manager, David Broom, actually attended GiveToLocal’s first corporate social in his capacity as a volunteer coach with Whitley Bay Juniors.

“The first Corporate 5s competition was really well attended by businesses from across the North East but I believe that these events can become so much more,” he said.

“I’m convinced that we can grow these events into regional and national socials.

“We also want to focus on running events across all the sports that we support, not just solely football.

“These social events will give businesses the opportunity to link up, opening a mutually beneficial channels of communication.

“Our commitment to corporate partners has to be about more than marketing and exposure. We want to give something back through these events.

“It’s very rare that you find a business or an organisation that doesn’t include people who love sport.

“With that in mind, we’re keen to host regular get-togethers where the business community can enjoy themselves and have a productive day or afternoon away from the office.”

GiveToLocal’s first corporate social event was attended by a number of national and regional businesses.

And after playing in the Corporate 5s, Andrew Wilson of NatWest and Stephen Armstrong of Kudos Group were in agreement that these events have the potential to be mutually beneficial to grassroots sport and corporate partners.

“We found out about GiveToLocal’s corporate 5-a-side event through our commercial team,” explained Andrew.

“Last year we attended a similar event as a team and we thought that it would be a good thing to get involved with.

“We really enjoyed the event. It was all for a good cause - supporting grassroots sport.”

Stephen added: “The Corporate 5s was really good fun. I’d not played football for about 10 years so we thought we’d get all the guys down to take part.

“My son plays football and he’s obsessed with it, so I understand how important it is to be able to give back to grassroots sport.

“Events like the Corporate 5s are great for team bonding. They also represent a great opportunity to meet new people from other businesses.”
