The agreement will see the two organisations working together to deliver a brighter and more sustainable future for grassroots football clubs across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, the Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire.
And Steph Clark, Football Communications Officer for the Berks & Bucks FA, is confident that GiveToLocal can help clubs recover from the coronavirus crisis — the biggest challenge the footballing community has ever faced.
“Now, perhaps more than ever, links with our local communities are vitally important,” said Steph.
“Throughout the coronavirus pandemic we’ve heard many inspiring examples of football clubs at the heart of their communities working alongside local services and residents to support each other when it’s been needed the most.
“GiveToLocal has the ability to link local businesses to teams across the region and they can go on to support and sustain each other.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for local clubs to strengthen and maintain their ties with the communities they serve whilst raising much needed funds for their teams in the process.”
GiveToLocal’s ethos is centred around community and our new Focus Clubs initiative has seen communities rally together behind their clubs to help secure sustainable funding for the future.
Steph believes the hard work that communities and clubs put in, alongside the support from their FA and GiveToLocal, will see football bounce back safely and securely.
“We’re still facing a period of genuine uncertainty but we have seen that through hard work and commitment we’re able to deliver football in a safe and positive environment,” she added.
“We need to ensure that the practices and protocols clubs have in place continue to be followed to ensure that football can continue.
“We always encourage clubs to try and connect with their local communities and it’s more important than ever to build these relationships.”
Colin Stromsoy, Director of Strategic Partnerships at GiveToLocal, is excited by the opportunity to be able to support clubs across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, the Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire.
“We’ve had fantastic discussions with Steph and the team at the Berks & Bucks FA and we’re absolutely delighted to have entered into a partnership with them,” said Colin.
“They’re a really forward-thinking county FA and are giving their clubs great support — just when they need it the most.
“Clubs and communities in their region have had an exceptionally tough time and we want GiveToLocal to have a sustained and positive impact on clubs here as it has elsewhere.”
