GiveToLocal has added another sporting organisation to its ranks having agreed a new national partnership with Welsh Boxing.
The exciting move follows hot on the heels of another recent Welsh National Governing Body, Basketball Wales who have also recently signed up to work with GiveToLocal.
Welsh Boxing was formed in 1910 and was established as a way of promoting and developing amateur boxing in Wales. From teaching the basics of boxing to developing elite Welsh talent, Welsh Boxing have been responsible for the production of highly decorated world-class amateur boxers, both male and female.
And GiveToLocal is delighted to be playing its part in helping boxing clubs look forward to a bright future in 2021 and beyond.
Owen Davies, Community Development Officer of Welsh Boxing, said, “The past 18 months have been challenging for everyone involved with boxing, due to the nature of the sport and the social distancing guidance that has been in place.
“It hasn’t all been negative and one of the positive things that came out of this recent period was the way in which the community came together to help each other.
“When I saw the GiveToLocal model, I just thought it was the ideal way to build on this positivity in a way that helps the whole community.
“We’re also very excited to be working with GiveToLocal as they launch their #ClubFutures campaign which we believe will have a really positive impact for boxing clubs in Wales.
“All in all, Welsh Boxing is just really pleased to be working with GiveToLocal and looking forward to the positive role they can play in supporting our clubs to become more financially sustainable,” said Owen.
And speaking on behalf of GiveToLocal, Colin Stromsoy, Director Of Strategic Partnerships at GiveToLocal said, “We’re a community-focused service that works for everyone.”
“We’re perfectly positioned to support Welsh Boxing clubs by helping to raise their profile, promote the incredible work and opportunities they provide and support their fundraising efforts.
“I’ve spent my whole career in sport and the boxing community has a renowned reputation for its excellent work at community level.
“We’re determined to play our part alongside Welsh Boxing to support coaches, boxers, parents and volunteers to ensure their sport continues to have a bright future.
“Our partnership with Welsh Boxing couldn’t have come at a better time, as we launch our #ClubFutures campaign in boxing. Every club that now registers will be able to access enhanced support and additional financial rewards as a result.”
“We are going to work tirelessly to help all clubs achieve a minimum of £10,000 in new funding every single year,” said Colin.
GiveToLocal’s completely free service will be available as an exclusive additional benefit to clubs affiliated to Welsh Boxing.
