“I’ve always had a real passion for sports,” explained Laura.
“I did a BTEC in sport at school and I played a lot of different sports growing up.
“I used to run and play basketball for the county – every aspect of sports I just absolutely love.”
Before starting as a Service Representative at GiveToLocal in February, Laura worked in various customer service roles, revelling in the opportunity to make people smile.
“I really do like to interact with people and help them the best I can,” said Laura.
“So, when I saw this position come up at GiveToLocal I just thought wow, it’s customer service and its involvement in grassroots sports, which is always something I’ve been really passionate about.
“That’s why I applied.
“My current role at GiveToLocal revolves around getting in touch with all of the clubs that have completed their registration with us.
“I ask them to attend a webinar, explain more about how the app works and what the webinar will entail, basically setting them up to start reaping the benefits of being registered with us.
“The buzz of knowing that you’re helping a club along the steps to get some much needed funding is my favourite thing about the role.
“Knowing that when they’ve passed this stage that it’s going to massively benefit their club, enabling them to get money each month, through a sustainable stream income, is great.”
Since starting six months ago, Laura, and the rest of the GiveToLocal team, has had to make the transition from working in the office to working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But despite working remotely, Laura has still felt a strong sense of team spirit and camaraderie throughout the entire organisation.
“Everyone is so lovely here,” continued Laura.
“I’ve never worked for an organisation where you’re surrounded by so many genuinely nice people - there’s a sense of everyone being in it together.
“What I love about it as well is that the people who are higher up in the company never look down on you. We’re all the same.
“There’s always a chance to put your input in too and I think that’s great. I think that’s part of the reason I’ve missed being in the office. I’ve missed having banter with everyone.
“Obviously there’s perks with working from home too. I’m getting to spend time with my daughter which is great.
“But once COVID is all over, I’m looking forward to getting back into the office and being around all of those lovely people again!”
With GiveToLocal’s committing to support grassroots sports nationwide in the face of coronavirus, Laura is excited to be a part of that journey towards a brighter future.
“There’s just excitement to see what’s going to happen next,” said Laura.
“To see the dramatic effect that we’re going to have on grassroots sports as we get bigger is something I’m really looking forward to.”
